The Adventure of Book Edits

The edits have arrived from my editor for the 3rd book in the Cadence of Grace series. Edits are often quite an experience for any writer and for me, they’re always a challenge both emotional and mental, but always…the results are SO worth it! As usual, both my editor and I want you all to get the best book possible to end this series, which means I’ll be hanging out with these pages for the next 5 or so weeks:   I’m thankful for the support and encouragement of friends and family (and for the existence of tea...

It’s Almost Here!

With just over a month to go before the release of THOUGH MY HEART IS TORN, I’m gearing up for getting book 2 into the hands…and hopefully hearts of readers! I just heard from my editor that the edits for the third book, MY HOPE IS FOUND are coming this week which means I’ll be up to my elbows in edits for the story–a busy and often times difficult process but one that is so worth it in the end. I will let you know how it goes! :) In the meantime, if you would like to help me in getting ready for the book release,...

My NEW Pioneer-Inspired Pantry ~ Before and After!

As a wife and mommy who wants to feed her family natural, homemade food, I was often saddened by the state of my pantry and how I had let it slip away from me this last year since having baby #3. I yearn to cook homemade meals with healthy and delicious ingredients, but was always finding myself staring at the useless mess I called a pantry–with no meal planning inspiration whatsoever. As a writer of historical fiction, I’ve always been so fond of how housewives kept a well-stocked pantry with grains, herbs and spices, and dried...

A Chat with WWII Author, Sarah Sundin

I’m sure most of you have heard of Sarah Sundin and her fantastic and sweet WWII novels, but if you haven’t today is your lucky day! Sarah is a dear…a wonderful person and a talented writer. With a passion for research, and WWII era romance, her books are satisfying from beginning to end! Her most recent series, Wings of the Nightingale debuted this last fall with the first installment, WITH EVERY LETTER. It was my pleasure to sit down a while back and ask Sarah a few behind the scenes questions about her writing, and WITH...

Our Shelter in the Storm

Our Shelter in the Storm

Yesterday was one of those days. One of those days where I cried. A lot. It was one of those days when life just seemed to throw one curve ball after another. One hurt after another. One misstep after another. I felt so vulnerable. So human. So empty. I felt like I was standing in the middle of a storm, and everything was happening at once. And that’s where God found me. That’s where He reached down, picked me up and I found myself in the shelter of His chest. In the shelter of His goodness. It is here where our hurt is cradled...

Folk Music Spotlight: Josh Garrels “Flood Waters”

It’s my joy to spotlight folk music now and again for two reasons. 1. I LOVE folk music. It’s pretty much my favorite genre outside of worship music. And there are some really awesome artists and songs out there…so this is me sharin’ the love :] 2. Folk and bluegrass music really tie into my stories. It’s a common thread in most everything I write. And while it’s ever evolving, this song is one that is currently at the top of my writing mix. The song for this spotlight is “Flood Waters” by Josh Garrels. Josh is an...
