A Delightful Surprise ~ The Christy Awards
Last week was quite a week! Last Monday I turned in a huge round of revisions that I honestly didn’t think I would survive–and Sunday got dubbed “the day of the nervous breakdown”…but with God’s grace and help, it all came together! And then just a few days later, I got the email that I was a finalist in the Christy Awards for Be Still My Soul. The Christys are one of the most prestigious awards in the industry. I was dumbstruck. I had no idea my publisher had even entered my book. When I got the news, I started shaking so much so, that I could scarcely...

The man on the mandolin, there? That’s my DAD. :) Most folks call him “Buddy Mike” because he’s a friend to everyone. If you saw the pictures from the book launch party, he was the music and folks had such a great time singing along. He is such a great dad and the little guy you see there is baby Caleb. I took some pictures while we were in my dad’s music room recently. He was working on composing and recording some bluegrass music for me to use in a rug-making video which I’m going to have for you all soon. But in the meantime, here are a few...
Read MoreOur Shelter in the Storm
Yesterday was one of those days. One of those days where I cried. A lot. It was one of those days when life just seemed to throw one curve ball after another. One hurt after another. One misstep after another. I felt so vulnerable. So human. So empty. I felt like I was standing in the middle of a storm, and everything was happening at once. And that’s where God found me. That’s where He reached down, picked me up and I found myself in the shelter of His chest. In the shelter of His goodness. It is here where our hurt is cradled with compassion, our empty cup refilled...

I had one of those weeks this week. Made up of days that were just one of those days. The kind of days that make us want to sit on the kitchen floor and eat cookie dough right out of the mixer. Know what I mean? All my rotten frailties were hung up like laundry on a line. All my weaknesses and shortcomings like broken china on the floor–and I was the bull in the china shop, making it worse. Ever have one of those moments? Do you ever feel like you just don’t have it all together–and maybe–you should? I’m a writer. I always thought being a writer meant that you...
Read MoreA Peek Into Edits
In honor of a tight editing deadline on not one but two manuscripts, both of which are due by the end of the month, I’m taking a little blogging break this week. Here’s a little snapshot of what I’m up to: Edits for my next book, THOUGH MY HEART IS TORN are due in 10 days so my laptop and I are close friends this week. :) Enjoying the snowy views out the window and the heavenly smell of the spruce boughs my mother in law just brought in. Perfect for working on these wintry scenes! Wishing you all a very happy and joyous...
