Coming soon from the Cadence of Grace Series
I’ve been blessed beyond words by you all who have walked this journey with me since first meeting Lonnie and Gideon in “Be Still My Soul”. Now, this spring comes the next part of their story, “Though My Heart is Torn”. Set in Appalachia, 1901, THOUGH MY HEART IS TORN is the story of Lonnie and Gideon O’Riley, a young couple who fell in love within the pages of BE STILL MY SOUL. Now, as tragedy pulls them apart, this second installment of the Cadence of Grace series explores the deep places of the heart and the blossoms of hope re-found. Here’s a...
Read MoreA Very Special Day!
Today is a big day. A huge day. And I find myself a little short on words. Because exactly eight years ago, I married my best friend in the whole wide world. Today we get to be together. Spend time together, just the two of us and tonight, it’s a table for two at our favorite restaurant. I can’t wait. The Lord has done miraculous things in our lives and marriage. My children go to bed every night with a bedtime bible story and are growing up to be little lights in this world and I owe so much of that to the amazing daddy that’s helping raise them. I am blessed beyond...
Read MoreOf Edits and Book Launches
This last week I’ve been working on the edits for the second book in the Cadence of Grace series, Though My Heart is Torn. I’ve spent my days with fingers to keyboard, heart to story…and there may have been some coffee involved. It’s hit me this morning that Be Still My Soul is about to release. Not in a year or months or even weeks. It’s releasing in days. So much is going on! Here is a little update of where I’m at right now. Of Edits… I was recently chatting with my friend Amanda Dykes about the editing process this time around. It’s a...
Read MoreThe Time Has Come
To most folks, August 1st was just another day on the calendar. But for me, last Monday stood out as a little more significant than Sunday or Tuesday. Why? Because Be Still My Soul, went out into the world through the Blogging for Books program. Yep, it’s out there. I’ve been more nervous for this than the release itself. I didn’t expect the jitters. Honestly, when I heard it had released to bloggers, my heart went into overdrive. I used to be one of those people who never shared that I was a writer. My own best friend didn’t even know. She almost slugged me when she...

Let’s talk book covers. I LOVE book covers. A picture really is worth a thousand words. So I wanted to dig in a little deeper and give you some of my thoughts on the cover for Be Still My Soul. I’ll never forget the first moment I saw the cover. I opened my email and there it was. My heart swelled at seeing my characters. WaterBrook/Multnomah did an amazing job. I was thrilled at how well they captured the details of this story. Seeing the characters come to life for the first time, was an incredible moment. Characters: In the front, you see the heroine–Lonnie Sawyer....
Read MoreBlessings Beyond Comprehension
I’m overwhelmed. People are reading my book. Authors are reading my book. The endorsement process has begun. My book is in their hands and they. are. reading. it. This book…this baby…is no longer just mine. It no longer lives only in the secret spaces of my heart. I was laying awake the other night and for the umteenth time, it struck me again. How am I here, God? How. am. I. here? How is it that I get to live my dream? I get to write Christian fiction. And it’s going to be published. After years and years of waiting and hoping and praying…why me God? And...
